Customer Reviews

Inexpensive and works very well - great value
This is my first bluetooth headset, so I cannot compare to other models; however, I've been using this one for 8 months (new handsfree law in CA) and I love it. No frills earpiece, but the sound is great. Even my father can hear me clearly, and he is hard of hearing. I charge it once a week and only use in the car (turning it off at the end of the day), and so far have never run out of power. The only little problem I have is that my ears are small, and the earbud is pretty large. Would definitely buy it again.

I like it...
**Using this with the iPhone 3G** This is my second Plantronics headset and I'm very impressed. I did get a cheaper headset inbetween the two and it wouldn't even pair with my iPhone. So I went back with what worked. It paired easily and has been doing well. The one thing that I have a problem with is the distance. They say I can go up to 10 meters away and still not have a problem. I'm sure that distance is padded a bit, but I have problems if I even go upstairs.

Even if I'm in the kitchen and I go into the living room (same floor) it gets very, very fuzzy. I would put the distance to where I can talk clearly at about 15 feet... which is about half of what they boast. The volume on the side could use some work. I can hear just fine and "regular" volume is just fine, but if they have a way for you to adjust it then I need to hear a noticeable difference between the lowest setting and the highest setting.

Other than that I'm very happy with my wireless headset and would definately get another Plantronics headset. Oh, I also like the design. Not a big fan of the other headset that make you look like a telemarketer!

Does the job nicely and easily
My Plantronics 220 blue tooth works very well. The sound quality is good and it is easy to use. I only use it driving (an hour and 15 minutes twice a day) so a battery charge lasts 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. I liked it so much I bought one for my wife and another for my son.

Still sticking with Plantronics.....
After purchasing this model at Costco and then reading reviews here (usually I do it the other way around, LOL), I felt compelled to add my review.

This is my fourth bluetooth headset, all have been Plantronics. I got my first a few years ago and loved the Voyager 510 that I got off eBay after some extensive research. I raved about it so much, friends bought one for themselves. I temporarily misplaced mine and just bought another off eBay, figuring I could also use the extra charger. When the original one turned up, I gave it to my boyfriend and kept the newer one (although I liked the original model slightly better because I was able to simultaneously connect to both my cell phones at one time).

Two days before Washington state's new law was to take effect barring talking on a cell phone without a headset while driving, I accidentally left my second Voyager 510 in a pocket and it went through the wash..... not so good.

So I jumped on eBay one more time but tried a different model since I found a good deal on another Plantronics. The Discovery 610. It was offered in red and looked pretty snazzy! It came with an optional earloop so I figured it would be pretty stable. That model was just ok and because it was so small, I kept misplacing it.

My hairdresser told me he had just bought a bluetooth headset at Costco and it was a Plantronics (his first Plantronics) and loved it. A mere . I figured that had to be a good one so I ran off to get one (my hairdresser usually steers me right!).

I have two cell phones, one for work and one for "home". The home cell is an older Motorola V360, the work cell is a Motorola W385. I paired my new Plantronics Explorer 220 with my V360 first and made a call.....

There was so much static, it was awful. I couldn't hear what the person on the other end was saying and I was seriously hoping she wasn't hearing the same thing I was. I made a couple of other calls and had the same problem: mucho static. I found that the closer I put my phone to the headset, the better the reception, but if I'm going to have to hold it that close to the thing in my ear, what good does that do me?

I dug the packaging out of the recycle and trash bins and made sure I still had my receipt handy. I was so upset I was going to go straight back to Costco and return the new headset.

But before I did that, I decided to try one more thing: I paired it with my W385 phone. And what an amazing difference! Perfectly clear, no static, great reception and volume. The volume control didn't seem to work very well at first (would only moderately raise or lower the volume of my calls) but I figured out if I increased the volume on the phone itself a little more, I got a better range on the headset.

Now I'm glad I tried it out on my other phone, although I still haven't figured out what I'll do about having a headset for the home cell phone. In the meantime, the Plantronics 220 is one of the more comfortable bluetooth headsets I've worn. I'm still practicing how to get it in my ear quicker, since I'm so used to the Plantronics 510, but I'm coming along.

My one teensy beef is with the port for charging. I thought it would be like the other Plantronics I've had and would be able to use the same chargers, but no. It has a micro USB port. The upside to that is I can purchase (separately) a cable that would allow me to charge my headset via my computer, but that's for another time.

I'd buy this one again, knowing all that I know now after I made my purchase. I would have given this 5 Stars if it had worked for both my phones, I knocked a star off for the serious static on my Motorola V360.

Works fine, but volume is terrible!!!
I just got this one after my Jabra BT2010 stopped working. It paired without problems with my HW6945 iPaq. Doesn't fit my ear quite as good as BT2010, but usable. To me the main problem was what other users already mentioned in their reviews - the volume. The default volume setting is very low and the volume control doesn't seem to do anything except making beeps in my ear. I's only been couple hours since I had this headset and it's most definitely going straight back to the store I bought it from.
For this very reason I do not recommend it, since being able to hear sound clearly is one of the most important attributes a bluetooth headset should have on the first place and this one just ain't got it!
I'd love to be able to find one that fits my ear as good as BT2010, but doesn't have all the connections problems and yet still in the the same price range and hopefully with a mini USB connection too, that by the way this Plantronics headset doesn't have either.
I gave this Plantronics headset two stars since it does work, sort of, but is completely impractical otherwise.
