Jessica Hardy won’t be going to the Beijing Olympics after testing positive for a banned substance. Hardy will be able to appeal the ban, but she only has two weeks until the Olympic games start.
An insider told AP that Jessica Hardy’s “A” sample tested positive as being a stimulant. The source didn’t go into greater details because he was not authorized to do so.
Her agent Evan Morgenstein thinks that some sort of mistake has been made.
“I’m very, very concerned about the confusion of her test coming up positive-negative-positive,” Morgenstein said. “She’s the one person I would never believe would do anything - anything - to cheat. Ever.”
The loss of Jessica Hardy could cause major problems for the Team USA Swim Team. Without her, the team will have vacancies in the 100m breast, 50m free, 400m free relay, and 400m medley relay. With only two weeks to make adjustments, this could cause a major upheaval for the swim team.
