Computer and printer maker Hewlett-Packard Co. earned $2 billion in the third quarter ended July.
A year ago the Palo Alto company (NYSE: HPQ) earned $1.8 billion in the third quarter.
HP reported sales of $28 billion during the quarter, up from sales of $25.4 billion a year ago in the same period. Sales of notebook computers grew 26 percent compared with a year ago.
Mark Hurd is HP’s CEO and chairman.
